Brew three bottles at a time: one brew processes all three with a single ingredient, so three potions cost the same ingredients as one. Nether wart grows on soul sand — plant a patch at your base and you'll never run out of Awkward Potions. Tipped arrows need a lingering potion: one makes eight arrows, but the effect lasts an eighth as long.

How do you brew a potion in Minecraft?
Put up to three water bottles into a brewing stand and blaze powder as fuel. Nether wart turns water into an Awkward Potion, and an ingredient sets the effect — sugar gives Swiftness, for example. Redstone makes the effect longer, glowstone dust makes it stronger, gunpowder makes it a splash potion, and dragon's breath a lingering one.
How long do splash and lingering potions and tipped arrows last?
A splash potion lasts as long as the drinkable one. A lingering potion lasts a quarter as long, and a tipped arrow an eighth. A 3:00 Potion of Swiftness gives 0:45 as a lingering potion and 0:22 on an arrow, while a 0:45 Potion of Poison lasts only 0:05 on an arrow.
Can a potion be both longer and stronger?
No. A long potion has no recipe with glowstone dust and a strong one has none with redstone, so the brewing stand simply won't take the second ingredient. A strong potion lasts shorter: Swiftness II lasts 1:30 instead of 3:00, while long Swiftness lasts 8:00.
How many potions does one blaze powder brew?
One blaze powder fuels 20 brews, and each brew handles up to three bottles in 20 seconds. Three splash potions of Swiftness II take 4 brews (wart, sugar, glowstone dust, gunpowder) — 80 seconds and one blaze powder.
How do you brew Weakness and Invisibility?
Weakness is the only potion brewed without nether wart: a fermented spider eye straight into a water bottle. Invisibility comes from a Potion of Night Vision (Awkward Potion + golden carrot) and a fermented spider eye. A splash potion of Weakness and a golden apple cure a zombie villager.
