Nether Wastes cover much of the Nether and are often the first biome beyond a portal. Uniform red terrain makes navigation difficult.

Netherrack forms large cavities above lava seas, with fungi and fire scattered across surfaces. Fortresses can cross into neighboring biomes.
Resources and mobs
Quartz and Nether gold ore are widespread, while glowstone hangs from ceilings. Zombified piglins remain neutral until one is attacked.
