How to obtain
Obsidian forms when water touches a lava source. It drops only when mined with a diamond or netherite pickaxe.
How it works
The block survives most ordinary explosions and cannot be pushed by pistons. Nether portal frames require a valid rectangular shape.
Where to use it
It is used for portals, enchanting tables, Ender chests, and beacons. It also protects critical components on multiplayer servers.
Practical tips
Use Efficiency and Unbreaking and keep water beside lava. Do not stand directly over the mined block because lava may be underneath.
