Finding and taming
Nautiluses spawn across ocean biomes and are neutral. Pufferfish or a bucket of pufferfish is used for taming and breeding, and player interaction also makes the encountered mob persistent.
Underwater riding
A tamed nautilus accepts a saddle and gains a controlled dash similar in principle to a camel's leap. Breath of the Nautilus pauses air consumption for the rider but does not restore air that has already been lost.
Armor
A dedicated inventory holds the saddle and armor. Copper, gold, iron, diamond, and netherite tiers are available, with netherite made by upgrading diamond armor at a smithing table.
Combat and safety
A provoked nautilus retaliates with a dash and may also attack pufferfish. It suffocates on land, so its enclosure must stay flooded; bring healing food and mark the return route before a long expedition.
