How to obtain
Surround a normal compass with eight echo shards. Echo shards are exclusive to ancient city chests, so the item requires exploring the deep dark.
Primary use
The needle leads to the owner's most recent death coordinates. It is especially useful after losing equipment far from base or inside a complex cave system.
Important mechanics
The compass works only in the death dimension. Elsewhere, or before the first death, it spins randomly, and a newer death replaces the previous location.
Practical tips
Leave the recovery compass at base instead of carrying it constantly. Label its container and keep spare armor ready for a recovery trip.
