Where to mine
Diamond ore becomes increasingly common in the deep Overworld. Systematic mining works near the bottom of the world, with lava lakes and slower deepslate mining factored into the route.
Correct tool
Iron, diamond, and netherite pickaxes can harvest the ore. Fortune increases diamond yield, while Silk Touch preserves the ore block for later mining with another tool; the two enchantments are incompatible.
Key recipes
Diamonds craft tools, weapons, armor, enchanting tables, and jukeboxes. Netherite upgrading keeps the diamond item as its base, so the equipment does not need to be rebuilt after collecting ancient debris.
Protecting the haul
Light tunnels, block side lava flows, and move part of the haul into an Ender Chest. Before obtaining Fortune, Silk Touch can preserve rare ore, but avoid carrying the entire stock in one ordinary inventory.
