How to obtain
A clock is crafted from four gold ingots and redstone dust. Librarians may sell one, and ruined portal chests can contain one.
Primary use
The dial helps determine whether it is safe to leave a mine and how long remains before night. Its animation works in hand, frames, inventory, and the hotbar.
Important mechanics
The Nether and End have no normal sky cycle, so the dial spins randomly there. Weather and being underground do not affect an Overworld clock.
Practical tips
Place a clock in an item frame near a mine or portal exit. Plan sleep from the dial rather than waiting for hostile mobs to begin spawning.
