Natural spawning
Zombie horses now occur naturally in Survival at night across plains and savannas. They arrive with zombie riders that usually carry spears, turning an otherwise passive mount into part of a combat patrol.
How to claim one
Defeat the rider while avoiding damage to the horse, then equip a saddle. A claimed horse can wear horse armor; clear a safe route to a fenced stable before handling a valuable find.
Sunlight and care
As an undead mob, a zombie horse is vulnerable to sunlight and needs cover. Normal breeding is unavailable, so a lost mount must be replaced by finding another night patrol.
Fighting the rider
A spear becomes more dangerous during a fast approach, so avoid standing on the charge line. A shield, elevation, or short wall disrupts the attack, after which the zombie can be removed with a ranged weapon.
