Where to find
Allays are confined in cages near pillager outposts and in woodland mansion rooms. A freed allay follows the player who gives it an item.
Behavior and danger
An allay searches only for existing dropped items of the same type and never breaks blocks or opens containers. A note block temporarily changes its delivery target.
Drops and uses
The held sample is returned when the player uses an empty hand. Dancing allays near a jukebox can be duplicated with an amethyst shard after a cooldown.
Strategy and edition notes
Use a lead for transport and protect the allay from lava and explosions. Sorting systems must account for note-block binding time, which can vary between editions.
