How to obtain
The current recipe crafts leads from string. Leads can also drop from a wandering trader's leash knots when the connection to trader llamas is broken.
Primary use
Use a lead on a compatible mob to guide it, or on a fence to tether it. Multiple mobs can be moved at once with separate leads.
Important mechanics
Excessive distance or an obstacle breaks the connection and drops the item. Not every entity is leashable, and boats or large mobs have edition-specific details.
Practical tips
Clear dangerous height changes before long trips and carry spare leads. At a base, use separate fence posts so animals do not crowd one point.
